I am still getting my bearings on this whole blogging business, so I thought I'd further my introduction by sharing some of the things that I love. My closest friends know that I'm a natural hype-woman. If I find something: a brand/designer, podcast, tv show, band, etc. that I love, I want my friends to know about it. I'm pretty excited to use this blog as a place to hype things to a larger audience. Here's a bit of my current hype list:
Pom Pom Earrings EatDaRich on Etsy
- Simone, the woman behind EatDaRich, is a super cool gal living in Detroit. She makes these sick pom pom earrings as well as a variety of other accessories! Simone makes each pom pom by hand! I own 2 pairs of her pom earrings and plan on purchasing more asap, as I intend to keep the pom pom trend going for as long as possible. [pewter and white pictured above, rose and fuchsia below!]
Podcasts: As a former commuter, I have listened to dozens of podcasts, but I believe these three are extra great and deserve your time:
CIPYD hosts Allegra Ringo (dog haver) and Renee Colvert (dog wanter) promote their show as "a podcast for unapologetic dog lovers", and while I certainly fit that demographic, I think this podcast can appeal to pretty much anyone. The hosts are professional comedians and, like any good podcast hosts, they make you feel like you know them personally. Weekly features include "Dogs We Met This Week" and "Mutt Minute", where they spend one minute teaching you about a new dog breed! They've even featured guests Andrew WK and Lin Manuel Miranda!
Gretchen Rubin, author of "The Happiness Project" pairs with her sister Elizabeth Craft on this podcast focused around improving your happiness! The creation of this blog was largely inspired by the podcast. The sisters present many different strategies for developing better habits, building self awareness [take the four tendencies test-i'm an obliger!], and making choices in the interest of happiness. What's a better quest than that?
Let's be honest, sometimes life just isn't happy. TTFA is Nora McInerny's quest to speak honestly about experiences that are painful, awkward, and human. This one definitely speaks for itself, but I really want to share it with everyone because it's wonderfully real and says so many things that need to be said. Please check it out.
Finally, I would like to hype wearing Chaco sandals and taking long walks in the park. Once it's 60 degrees or warmer (let's be honest, maybe 55) Chacos are the only shoes I want to wear. Plus, they totally go with everything, right?
Thanks for checking out my lil baby blog! I hope you enjoyed my hype list and look forward to similar lists in the future! What are some things you're excited about right now? Leave your faves in the comments!
